Beyoncé earlier this year, announced her partnership with one of the giant sportswear in the world, the superstar who unveiled her debut fashion collection, Ivy Park collection gave her million followers a glimpse of what it entails on Instagram.
Her first Adidas x Ivy Park collection includes fashion-forward jumpsuits, harness bags, bodysuits, oversized hoodies, and a sneaker with a chunky sole which are some of the pieces fans can expect from the new collection.
Beyoncé oversaw every aspect of the collection, from the color story (shades of maroon, cream, and solar orange) to each tiny design detail. Everything will be available to shop on January 17. She revealed that the collection will feature unisex footwear and clothing.
“This new line is fun and lends itself to creativity, the ultimate power,” Beyonce told Elle magazine in the publication’s January 2020 cover story. “I focused on designing a unisex collection of footwear and apparel because I saw so many men in IVY PARK. The way they have embraced the brand is an unexpected gift. I appreciate the beauty of gender-neutral clothing and breaking the so-called fashion rules.” Beyoncé first launched her Ivy Park brand with the fashion retailer Topshop back in 2016, but assumed full ownership of the company in 2018, before making the switch to German sportswear giant Adidas in April.
Beyoncé says it was important for her to design a unisex line because of the amount of men that unexpectedly (to her) flocked to the pieces. “The way they have embraced the brand is an unexpected gift,” she continued. “I appreciate the beauty of gender-neutral clothing and breaking the so-called fashion rules. I took a chance on myself when I bought my company back. We all have the confidence in us to take chances and bet on ourselves.”
The new launch is the latest in a string of career coups for Beyoncé, whose 2019 included the launch of her Netflix special “Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé,” and an album of the same name, as well as a starring role as the voice of Nala in Disney’s remake of “The Lion King.”
In 2018, Beyonce bought her athleisure line, Ivy Park, back from Topshop.
